A Little More Than I Can Give

After finishing the dishes this afternoon, I slipped on a puddle of thoughts and fell into a contemplative reflection.

A haze of reminders and conversations swarmed out my present petty thoughts, in exchange for a conclusion. A stream of culminations now mingled in one tea pot. Stirring imperceptibly, I could see the tears and prayers blending together in God's timing.

In awe, I watched, I listened to the last puzzle piece being placed at the climax, following the rising action overflowing with desperate Why's. The question was a demanding "why?", when it should have been an obedient, "What do you want me to do here God?"

In crescendo, A Little More Than I Can Give by Jennifer Knapp flowed with exuberance in the ears of my mind. After everything that He did for me, who was I to filter out what I did not want to hear that He was saying to me?

Turn Your eyes from on this way
I have proved to live a dastardly day
I hid my face from the saints and the angels
Who sing of Your glory
What You had in mind
My weakness shines
Show me grace

A little more than I can give
A little more than I deserve
Unearth this holiness I can't earn
It's a little more than I can give
A little more than I deserve

For all the sin that lives in me
It took a nail to set me free still,
What I do I don't want to do and so goes the story
What You had in mind
What we seek we'll find
Shine, show me grace

With all this motivation I still find a hesitation
Deep in my soul
Despite all my demanding I still find You understanding
Show me grace
Show me grace I know is

I looked further and listened harder, to discover.

Job 42:3

New International Version (NIV)

3 You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.

And oh, how it all started to magnify!
